1 Corinthians 15:5

5 καὶ ὅτι ὤφθη Κηφᾷ εἶτα τοῖς δώδεκα·

5 and that he appeared to Cephas, then to the Twelve,

καὶ – connective conj. [W671].

ὅτι – fourth content conj. marking a dir. obj. clause of the main verb παρέδωκα from v. 3 [W678].

ὤφθη – fourth verb of dir. obj. content clause with Χριστὸς from v. 3 as its subj. [aor-pass-ind-3-s-οράω]: “was seen” (literally) or simply “appeared” (BDAG) are acceptable translations. BDAG notes that it is passive with an active sense of “become visible, appear” (A.1.d.).

Κηφᾷ – first dat. ind. obj. of ὤφθη. Your choice of translation of the previous verb will determine your translation of the dative here: “he was seen by Cephas” or “he appeared to Cephas.”

εἶτα – ordinal adv.

τοῖς δώδεκα· – second dat. ind. obj. of ὤφθη. Substv. use of the card. adj. δώδεκα is indeclinable. Monadic use of the article [W223-24].
