1 Corinthians 15:7 (PDF)

1 Corinthians 15:7

7 ἔπειτα ὤφθη Ἰακώβῳ εἶτα τοῖς ἀποστόλοις πᾶσιν·

7 then he appeared to James, then to all the apostles,

ἔπειτα – ordinal/chronological adv.

ὤφθη – sixth verb of dir. obj. content clause with Χριστὸς from v. 3 as its subj. [aor-pass-ind-3-s-οράω].

Ἰακώβῳ – dat. ind. obj.

εἶτα – ordinal adv. Stylistic variation explains Paul’s vacillation between ἔπειτα and εἶτα.

τοῖς ἀποστόλοις πᾶσιν· – dat. ind. obj. Probably the well-known use of the article, as it is neither par excellence nor monadic [W225].
