1 Corinthians 15:8

8 ἔσχατον δὲ πάντων ὡσπερεὶ τῷ ἐκτρώματι ὤφθη κἀμοί.

8 and last of all, like an untimely birth, he even appeared to me.

ἔσχατον – adv. expressing finality. BDAG notes that the neuter form functions as an adverb: “finally” or “last.”

δὲ – contrastive or connective conj.

πάντων – partitive/wholative gen. [W84-86].

ὡσπερεὶ – comparative conj. [W675]. It compares two things, and those two things will be in the same case. It is fronted, perhaps for emphasis.

τῷ ἐκτρώματι – mirrors the dat. case of κἀμοί as it is the thing being compared. BDAG notes that this “untimely birth” could be an abortion, a premature birth, a miscarriage, or a birth beyond the normal gestation period. It seems that Paul is emphasizing this final sense. The article is generic/categorical and thus does not need to be translated with “the” but is better as “a(n)” in English [W227-31].

ὤφθη – seventh verb of dir. obj. content clause with Χριστὸς from v. 3 as its subj. [aor-pass-ind-3-s-οράω].

κἀμοί. – this is καὶ + ἐγώ in the dat. case. Dat. ind. obj. Ascensive conj. [W670-71]. The internal logic between this comparison of τῷ ἐκτρώματι and κἀμοί is this: “I am like one who is untimely born (beyond gestation).”
