1 Corinthians 15:23

23 Ἕκαστος δὲ ἐν τῷ ἰδίῳ τάγματι· ἀπαρχὴ Χριστός, ἔπειτα οἱ τοῦ Χριστοῦ ἐν τῇ παρουσίᾳ αὐτοῦ,

23 But each (will be made alive) in his own order: first Christ (was made alive), then those who belong to Christ (will be made alive) at his coming;

Ἕκαστος – nom. subj. of an elliptical sentence. The understood verb comes from ζῳοποιηθήσονται in v. 22. Distributive pronoun functioning substantively.

δὲ – contrastive conj. [W671-72].

ἐν τῷ ἰδίῳ τάγματι· – prep. phrase.

ἀπαρχὴ – BDAG notes this: “The orig. mng. is greatly weakened, so that ἀ. becomes almost = πρῶτος;” (BDAG 1.b.α.). Thus, “first” instead of “firstfruits.”

Χριστός, – nom. subj. of an elliptical sentence. The understood verb comes from ζῳοποιηθήσονται in v. 22.

ἔπειτα – ordinal/chronological adv. (BDAG 1.b.).

οἱ τοῦ Χριστοῦ – nom. subj. of an elliptical sentence. The understood verb comes from ζῳοποιηθήσονται in v. 22. The article is a substantiver with a gen. word or phrase [W235-36]. The gen. is possessive [W81-83].

ἐν τῇ παρουσίᾳ – prep. phrase.

αὐτοῦ, – subj. gen. “He comes” [W113-16].
